About Lex Marinos
Lex Marinos was born in Wagga Wagga, NSW into a family of Greek cafe owners. He attended the University of NSW, receiving a BA with Honours in Drama. Since then he's worked in all areas of the entertainment industry as an actor and director.
As an actor Lex has appeared with the Nimrod, APG Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, as well as commercial productions such as the King and I.
He is best known on television for the series Kingswood Country, Embassy, S.C.O.O.P, Live and Sweaty, Ballzup and World Series Debating.
His Film credits include Cathy's Child, Goodbye Paradise, Last Days of Chez Nous and Bedevil. As a director he has also worked in all media, notably films An Indecent Obsession, television series Bodyline, A Country Practice, plus documentaries and many theatre productions.
During a diverse career, Lex has also focussed his creative talents on radio, and done various stints as an announcer on a variety of ABC and commercial networks.
Lex was also awarded an OAM for services to the performing arts. Lex is a frequent speaker and writer on arts and cultural diversity and was the Director of Carnivale, NSW's multicultural arts festival from 1996-99.
Most recently Lex appears as a judge on ABC television’s Strictly Dancing. He is an irrepressible character with a devilish ability to turn a phrase, which keeps him in the hot seat as a sough after Master of Ceremonies
