About Wilbur Wilde
Wilbur Wilde is well known to many Australian's as the resident talking saxophone player (for 18 years) on the widely popular television show Hey Hey it's Saturday. He has played saxophone for thirty years and still loves it.
Wilbur studied at the Sydney conservatorium before enjoying success with chart topping bands OL' 55 and Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and recording and touring with other local and international acts including Roy Orbison, Skyhooks, Dire Straits, Cold Chisel, Tiny Tim, Elvis Costello & Garth Brooks.
His film acting credits include The Coolangatta Gold, Jenny Kissed Me, Dead End Drive-in and the seminal Mad Max. Wilbur has also acted in television series such as The Fast Lane and The Flying Doctors.
Wilbur's broad based career has encompassed a stint on breakfast radio and also in theatre, having acted and sung in Hey Hey it's Cinderella and The New Rocky Horror Show, which he toured internationally after completing sell-out seasons in all states of Australia.
Wilbur is no stranger to prestige and advertising having represented such major brand names as McDonalds, Coca-Cola and KFC in national television and print campaigns.
Wilbur Wilde can be heard on Gold 104.3FM hosting Classic Café every day from 12 noon to 1.00pm, serving up great songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s including his Daily “One Hit Wonder".
