About Peter FitzSimons
Peter Fitzsimons is well known as a sports journalist, television personality and author. He writes a weekly column for The Sydney Morning Herald. He was also a former member of the Rugby Union team the Wallabies.
In his writing career to date Peter has written fourteen books. Among his best sellers are the biographies of Nick Farr-Jones, John Eales, Steve Waugh, Kim Beasley, Nancy Wake and Nene King. He is also the author of Kokoda and The Rugby War. In 2001 he was Australia's biggest selling non-fiction author with just under 250,000 sales. He achieved this result again in 2004 with his book Kokoda.
Peter is also a former member of the Australian Rugby Union team the Wallabies. He played with the team for five years under coaches Alan Jones and Bob Dwyer.
As a television personality Peter worked for the Nine Network for four years at one point co-hosting the Today Show with Liz Hayes. He later joined Foxtel where he has since remained. Peter also spent two years working on drive time radio with Doug Mulray.
As a speaker Peter brings a wealth of sporting, media and world experience to every presentation. His humour and occasional acerbic wit are woven in comfortably with his great knowledge. Peter is also an accomplished Master of Ceremonies.
