About Eddie McGuire
Eddie McGuire is host of Channel Nine's quiz show Who Wants to be a Millionnaire? Eddie began his media career as a football statistician with the Herald newspaper. He also joined Australian Associated Press as a cricket writer.
He later joined Channel Ten as a sports journalist/presenter for Eyewitness News where he remained until 1993. Eddie then joined Channel Nine in February 1994 as sports commentator and co-host of the award winning program The Footy Show.
The Footy Show is now one of the most successful Melbourne programs of all time as it enters its eleventh year In 1996 Eddie presented the nightly sports report on Nightline and anchored the American NFL Gridiron coverage.
He co-presented the 1998 Commonwealth Games from Kuala Lumpur and since 1999 has fronted Nine's coverage of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix. In 2002, Eddie also took on the roles of host and chief commentator of Nine's AFL telecasts.
Eddie's production company has co-produced the Triple M radio program The Grill Team, packaged Triple M's football coverage, produced the children's football program Screema, four football specials and two Centenary of Federation specials Underdogs To World Beaters and Vaudeville To Video - for the Nine Network.
Eddie has also written two bestsellers, Pants: The Darren Milane Story and Footy Show Screamers and writes a weekly column in The Melbourne Herald Sun of Victoria.
