About Speaker Mick Dodson
Mick Dodson is a lawyer and is best known for his work as Australia's first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner. All his life Mick has worked to improve the quality of life for Indigenous people and is a leader in the process of reconciliation.
He has worked in a range of indigenous and non-indigenous organisations across the nation, continues as the Chairman of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and is a Director of Reconciliation Australia.
He was a significant leader in the International Year of Indigenous Peoples and continues as a Chairman and Trustee for various United Nations committees. Mick has shown integrity, courage and leadership and inspires Australians to achieve racial harmony through the ongoing process of reconciliation.
