About Speaker Tony Fountain
By any definition of the word, Tony's life has been an amazing experience. Whilst some would liken it to a roller coaster ride, he puts it as "having climbed the stairs to heaven and walked the halls of hell. Whichever way you look at it he is a man who is an achiever.
Growing up in a small town in country New South Wales Tony he took his family owned stock and station agency from being just another little agency to where they were the leaders in the pleasure horse auctioneering field in Australia and conducting auctions across every Australian State and territory and co-founded what is now Australia's largest rural merchandising company Combined Rural Traders Ltd.
He was later approached by Ray White Real Estate to move to Sydney to set up their auction operations. Never shy of a challenge, he accepted their invitation, entering one of Australia's biggest and most competitive real estate markets with no office and no auctions. Within 21 months he had made them auction market leaders a position which they still hold today.
He was also part of the team that expanded Ray White from a Queensland and NSW operation into Western Australia, South Australia, Indonesia and New Zealand. Tony was also a Franchisee himself and so understands business from both sides of the desk.
Here is a man, who through life's experiences and the hard basic facts of business life, has seen what hard times look and feel like and in the process of trading himself and his businesses back into the black, he learnt, as he puts it, what many other human beings have learned, that, "when the only thing behind you is the back of your shirt, life can be bloody lonely".
How Tony handled these challenges and how he emerged on top form a big part of many of his talks. This is a "straight from the shoulder" presentation by a man who when he hit "The Big Smoke", mixed it with the "city suits" came out a winner in the franchise business.
