About Speaker Paul Gilding
Paul Gilding has spent nearly a decade working with large corporations and business leaders on sustainability strategy. This frontline corporate experience, preceded by a 20-year involvement with social change organisations, gives Paul deep insights into the challenges and opportunities that environmental and social trends present for companies.
A former Executive Director of Greenpeace International, Paul regularly presents to business audiences around the world on sustainability, which he interprets as involving a set of market forces putting value at stake for companies. He informs and challenges with his vision and practical guidance for harnessing business adaptability and can-do optimism to respond to sustainability in ways that create value for society and growth for companies.
Since establishing his own company in 1995, Paul has advised leading international corporations including DuPont, Ford, Placer Dome, SC Johnson, and Suncor Energy, as well as Australian corporations such as IAG, ANZ, BHP, Lend Lease, Pacific Power and WMC.
Paul has received international recognition for his thought leadership. In 1992, the influential World Economic Forum (WEF) appointed him a Global Leader for Tomorrow at its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. This was followed in 1993 with the Australian Prime Minister presenting Paul with an Australia Day Award for Outstanding Achievement for services to the environment.
In December 1994, he was listed by Time International in its Time's Global 100 Young Leaders for the New Millennium and in 1997; he received the prestigious Tomorrow Magazine Environmental Leadership Award.
