About Avril Henry
Avril Henry is a sought after conference speaker whose keynote addresses have inspired new ways of thinking and working at all levels of management. Avril's messages raise awareness about leadership, change management, communication, diversity and generational issues in the workplace.

Avril is the author of “Leadership Revelations: An Australian Perspective”. Avril graduated from the University of Cape Town in Accounting and Economics, migrating to Australia in 1980, with two suitcases, $500 and a dream to live freely and make a difference.
She embarked on a career which has spanned senior roles in Finance, IT, Project Management, Change Management and Human Resources. The companies she has worked for in Finance and IT Roles include: De Beers, Barclays Bank, Midland Bank, UBS Warburg and Westpac. She has worked in South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and the USA.
From 1994 to 2003, Avril held senior HR and HR Director Roles at Westpac, Merrill Lynch, DMR Consulting Group and Clayton Utz. While in these roles her focus was on leadership development, people management strategies, cultural change and integration. During a time of significant cultural change at Westpac in the mid 1990s, Avril developed and implemented two programs on diversity and sexual harassment which resulted in two awards for Westpac from the Australian Human Rights Commission.
Avril is the immediate past Chairperson of the National Diversity Think Tank. In November 2005, Avril was appointed to lead a Ministerial Review for the Australian Defence Force into the recruitment and retention policies and practices for the army, air force and navy.
Her clients include: the Department of Defence, Australian Federal Police, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Australian National Audit Office, Department of Education, Science and Training, the New South Wales Police, Toyota, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Merck Sharp & Dohm, IBM, Eli Lilly and S C Johnson.
