About Rod Macqueen
Rod Macqueen is the most successful coach in the history of Rugby Union. During his time as Australian Coach the Wallabies won 34 of their 43 matches for an astonishing 81 percent winning ratio.
His achievements were mainly as a result of his forward thinking and willingness to change in a game that had long been dogged by stubbornness and inflexibility.
His fresh ideas and ability to think outside of the conventional ideals of Rugby lead to a 2 year goal to win the World Cup. Prior to his involvement with the Wallabies Rod took over the family business and transformed it in to a multi million dollar point of sale and merchandising company with a long list of multi national clients.
Now retired as coach of the Wallabies, Rod Macqueen still moves effortlessly through the worlds of sport and business. He is recognised and respected for his unusual yet effective mix of skills and experience.
A lateral thinker and innovator he has demonstrated throughout his life an ability to unite people to a common cause and create an environment to help them realise their potential to achieve maximum success.
Rod was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia Medal in the 2003 Australia Day Honours List. He is the recipient of the Prime Ministers Medal for Excellence in Sport and is an Associate Member of the Sports Hall of Fame.
