About Daniel Petre
Daniel Petre spent nine years with Microsoft as Managing Director Australia, Vice President and Director of Advanced Technology.
Before joining Microsoft, Daniel Petre spent five years with Burroughs in systems engineering and marketing roles and four years with NEC Information Systems Australia where his last position was that of National Marketing Manager.
He was also Chairman and founder of Ecorp while concurrently serving on the board of PBL as a Director and Executive Chairman. Ecorp is Australia’s leading internet company with major investments across the broad range of internet activities including ninemsn, eBay, Ticketek, Monster and Wizard.
He has authored three books and was recently awarded an Order of Australia for services to business and the community. Since leaving Ecorp Daniel founded an executive development business specialising in sustainable leadership.
His Consultancy provides development and executive coaching programmes for senior executives and leaders. He currently serves on the Federal Government’s Framework for the Future taskforce.
Previously he has served on Australian Multimedia Enterprise and on Senator Richard Alston’s Information Policy Advisory Council and on the board of the Australian Information Industry Association.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science with majors in computer studies and statistics from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Business Administration from Sydney University. He also holds a Diploma in Counselling.
Daniel is the co-author of The Clever Country? which deals with the Information revolution and the strategies Australia needs to commit to if Australia is to benefit from this significant shift in global commerce. In July of 1998 Daniel launched his first book “Father Time – making time for your children”.
