About Speaker David Adams
David Adams has been described by many as a man or “rare courage and stamina”. That accolade came when David in his yacht True Blue won Class 2 of the 27,000 mile of the 1994/1995 BOC Challenge solo around the world yacht race slashing an astonishing 10 days and 10 hours off previous records.
When you consider that during his 135 days at sea David slept no more than 30 minutes at a time - you can understand what is meant by the word “stamina”.
David qualified as a captain in the merchant navy before becoming a professional yachtsman.
Since then he has logged up more than 185,000 miles competing in some of the world’s great ocean races. His win in the BOC challenge aboard his 50’ yacht ‘True Blue’ was the culmination of 13 years of striving to achieve that goal and is vividly described in his book “Chasing Liquid Mountains”.
During his presentations David share’s some of his experiences and speaks about some of the lessons he learnt through the 13 hard years that culminated in his remarkable victory, and the ultimate achievement of his goal.
