About John Maguire
John Maguire was Driza-Bone Managing Director from 1989 until his departure in 1997 and, after a turbulent decade under the ownership of British company, the James Halstead Group, he returned spectacularly in 1999 to seize full ownership.
One of Queensland's most dynamic businessmen, and brandishing his personal ethic: 'Ready, Fire, Aim!', he continues to steer Driza-Bone into a multi-award-winning manufacturer and flagship exporter.
A true part of Australia's history Driza-Bone is one of the most recognisable clothing brands in the world today. It has evolved from being soley an oilskin workcoat, to jackets, vests, hats and leathergoods used for both active and leisure outdoor activities.
Driza-Bone is now marketing in 20 countries while proudly manufacturing only in Australia. They recently opened a second factory and now employ over 200 people which is more than three times the amount of people they employed back in 1989 (60 people). Driza–Bone was the first Australian company to implement the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement within the Clothing Industry (1993).
Never lost for words, and renowned for his ability to hold an audience spellbound, John is a witty, entertaining and learned business speaker, who delivers tough and original business messages for tough times and beyond.
