About Jim Penman
Jim Penman started Jim's Mowing in Melbourne, Australia in 1982, forming the franchise system in 1989. With more than 2,000 Franchisees, the company already has a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand and Canada (British Columbia) and is growing at about 15 percent per annum, making the company the largest lawn mowing franchise in the world.
The key to a successful business is service and the key to excellence is having the best people. A core principle of the Jim's system is a rigorous process of selection. Prospective Franchisors are interviewed and spend three days in training. Quality is maintained by continuing training, direct and frequent contact and by an incentive-based fee system.
The expansion of Jim’s interstate and overseas was headed by Franchisors, mostly themselves successful Franchise Owners. Franchisors are given the job of recruiting, training and supporting their own Franchisees, running advertising campaigns and providing Work Availability Guarantees to their new Franchisees. The international head office is based in Melbourne, Australia and is supported by an extensive IT department which is responsible for developing all of the Jim's programs in-house.
