About Margaret Throsby
A face and voice familiar Australia-wide, and one of our most popular and admired broadcasters, Margaret Throsby presents Mornings on ABC Classic FM.
Margaret's association with the ABC began when she joined its announcing staff in 1967. Since then she has overcome major barriers to the accepted roles for women in broadcasting. She became the first of woman to read national radio news and in 1978 was the first woman to present national television news.
Margaret has presented a variety of music and current affairs programs, and won a devoted audience for her high rating morning program The Margaret Throsby Show on ABC's Radio 2BL.
On ABC Classic FM, Margaret Throsby includes a great mix of classical music and a one hour interview at 10.05am with a special guest.
A list of Margaret's guests reads like a Who's Who of Australians and visitors to Australia. Some of these amazing people include: in the public eye - the UN's (and Australia's) Richard Butler; opinion makers of all persuasions - John Pilger, Paul Davies, Henry Reynolds, Tim Flannery, Jane Elliott, Auberon Waugh; across the spectrum of the arts both national and international - Lord Menuhin, Claire Bloom, John Williams, Yvonne Kenny, Riley Lee, Spike Milligan, Victoria de los Angeles, Bruce Beresford; from outback Northern Territory - Terry Underwood.
