About Maxine McKew
Maxine McKew is a Walkley and Logie Award winning journalist and is one of Australia's most experienced and authoritative interviewers.
An alternative anchor for the ABC's television programs the 7.30 Report and Lateline. Maxine established a national profile as a political and social affairs interviewer on Lateline in the mid-1990' where she interviewed a host of international figures.
Among them, Tony Blair, Madelyn Albright, Richard Armitage, Shimon Peres, Fidel Ramos, B.J. Habibe, Mary McAleese and Sir Julius Chan. Maxine is also a regular writer for the The Bulletin magazine.
For the past five years her column Lunch With Maxine McKew has published candid interviews and news braking stories with Australia's policy makers.
With a 20 year background in all aspects of television reporting Maxine has worked in many parts of the world, including a posting to Washington DC in the 1980's as political correspondent for the ABC.
In 2003 she was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to broadcasting and the Magazine Publishers Association voted her Columnist of the Year.
A 25-year background in television reporting has seen Maxine cover a wide spectrum including state and national politics, business reporting and a period as foreign correspondent.
