About Nigel Marsh
Nigel Marsh is the Author of "Fat Forty & Fired". In 2005, “Fat, Forty & Fired” enjoyed Top Ten success alongside Dan Brown and John Grisham. It is currently being published internationally as well as adapted for film and radio.
A top level CEO Nigel Marsh was a stressed, overweight, mortgage slave struggling to balance a high-pressure job and the demands of four small children under eight.
Suddenly he was made redundant when his firm closed its Australian operations. But when Nigel lost his job he decided make this a positive crises versus a destructive one and take a year off and take stock of his life.
Using all his management skills and the gusto of running a business Nigel decided to master the art of hands-on-parenting (his account of his first kinderschool run is hilarious), lose 20 kilos and train for an ocean swimming race. He also came to terms with the growing realisation that he was an alcoholic.
While these things seem basic to most of us it is his candid reflections and thought provoking insights on his adjustment to family life, everyday responsibilities and to his own personal growth that are most engaging and highly intriguing.
These days Nigel is the Chairman of Leo Burnett Australia and formerly the CEO, a position he held for 3 years. During that time Leo Burnett was responsible for a number of the highest profile and effective communication campaigns in the country - for companies as diverse as Canon, McDonalds, Virgin, Subaru and Bundy Rum.
Leo Burnett is the current holder of not one, but both of the industry’s coveted Agency of Year awards.
