About Natalie Cook
Natalie Cook is the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Beach Volleyball gold medalist and Australian beach volleyball champion.
Most Australians will never forget Natalie Cook and partner Kerri Pottharst fighting it out on Bondi Beach to claim Olympic gold in front of their home crowd at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Natalie Cook possesses all the qualities you would expect from an Olympic champion. Her determination to achieve at the highest level and her commitment to the sport of beach volleyball in Australia are outstanding.
Natalie's journey to Olympic gold started in 1994 when she made the switch from indoor volleyball to beach volleyball. Just two years later she teamed up with Kerri Pottharst to win silver at the 1996 World Championships and bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Following Kerri's announced retirement, Natalie teamed up with fellow Aussie Nicole Sanderson and together they qualified for the 2004 Athens Olympics. Despite carrying a shoulder injury into the Olympics Natalie battled bravely to make it to the semi final's and was desperately unlucky not to win a medal.
Natalie's courageous display earned her praise from the Australian media and public alike
