About Russell Fairfax
Russell Fairfax's brilliant sporting career started as a school boy where he was a NSW schools representative in Rugby League, Rugby Union, Basketball, Athletics and Swimming. He was the first Australian schoolboy to ever become a Wallaby.
Russell made his debut for the Wallabies as an 18 year old playing in the first Australian team to defeat France on French soil. During his time with the Wallaby's he played 8 Tests including Bledisloe Cup campaigns.
In 1974 he switched codes to Rugby League, joining the Eastern Suburbs Club. He became the first player to win back to back premierships in League and Union plus back to back premierships with the Roosters. He went on to play 115 first grade games between 1974 and 1980.
Next Russell turned to Coaching and was Head Coach of Eastern Suburbs and of the USA team in the World Seven's tournament in 1991-1992.
These days Russell is well known as a media personality. He began his media career with Channel 10 commentatind on some of the biggest tournaments in Rugby League and Rugby Union.
Russell is currently working with Fox Sports as a Studio Host and Commentator.
