About Liz Ellis
Liz Ellis commenced her international netball career in 1992 captaining the Australian 21 and Under Team to victory at the World Youth Cup in Fiji. The following year Liz's dream to play for Australia in the Open Team was realised when she toured to The Netherlands for the World Games.
Liz made her debut in the Green and Gold on 28 July 1993 against Wales at the age of 20. Her instantaneous impact in the team ensured she became a permanent member in the Australian line up. These days she is the captain and the best-known player on the current Australian team, not only for her long representative career but for her off-court media work.
Liz plays goalkeeper for both the Australian team and her club team, the highly successful Sydney Swifts. Liz is a fully-qualified solicitor, but has given legal work up to concentrate on other business interests and media work.
She has been a regular panellist on a number of sports panel shows, where her gently self-deprecating humour has been popular. She has also appeared several times on The Glass House.
Her business activities include running junior coaching clinics amongst a number of other activities and endorsements.
Liz is the second most capped player for Australia and is currently five caps behind former Australian Captain, Vicki Wilson who is on 104 test caps. With nine international tests already confirmed for 2005, Liz is expected to surpass that record and reach the milestone of Australia's most capped Netball player
