About Dick Johnson
Dick Johnson is one of the most successful racing drivers in Australian motor racing history.
The longest-established motor racing team in Australia, Dick Johnson Racing was founded more than 30 years ago, when Dick Johnson earned his first commercial support from long-time sponsor, Shell Australia.
After being only a sporadic entrant in the Australian Touring Car Championship during the early 70's, Dick Johnson came to the fore when a change in regulations introduced the XD Falcon to the series, elevating him from everyday Joe to 'rock star' status overnight.
Today he is a five times Australian touring car champion. The colourful Queenslander is today readily identified with Ford's proud blue and white oval badge.
Highly regarded for his exploits on the track and his laconic humour off it, Dick Johnson is also well known to non-sports fans through his popular Shell Helix television commercials with the late former World Motorcycle Champion, Barry Sheene.
These days with Dick still giving valuable input from the sidelines, a new look team and sponsor and with Glenn Seton on board there's every reason to expect that the future will bring great rewards for both the team and fans alike
