About Leisel Jones
At 18 years old, Leisel brought home Olympic gold, silver and bronze and set a new World Record with medley relay team mates at the 2004 Athens Games.
Now at still only 19 years, Leisel is the face of a young Australian achiever, a courageous teenager with a dream larger than life.
At the 2005 Australian Championships in Sydney, Leisel won the 100m and 200m Breaststroke crowns and at the same time qualified for these events and the medley relay for the World Titles in Montreal.
Leisel was first noticed at the Queensland State Titles in January 2000, where she clocked a personal best time of 1:10.18. It took her just months later to clock 1:08.3 at the National Age Titles in Perth, where she was touted the nation's future swimming star.
Leisel was not only the youngest member of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Swimming Team, but also the youngest ever Olympic medalist in the history of Australia's participation when she won silver in the 100m breastroke and 4x100m medley relay.
Leisel is looking forward to the 2006 Commonwealth Games and beyond and she intends to fulfill her every goal. Leisel has worked extremely hard in order to succeed and with the support of her family, friends and the public and with the determination and energy she exerts, she will continue to dominate the world stage and motivate others in their lives.
